DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM
The rubber roll of ø 400 x 2400, constituting an element of a textile finishing machine was locally damaged. There appeared delaminations all over the circumference of the roll of the width of ca. 180mm.

DESCRIPTION OF THE REPAIR
The chafed rubber was removed. The base and edges of the rubber were defattened with Chester Cleaner after the loose rubber was removed. After it dried, it was rubbed with the abrasive paper, cleaned, and then defattened again. After grounding the base with the rubber ground EL 20, the process of placing tixotropic Elastomers 90T was carried out. The works were performed when the roll was rolling in the lathe, with the help of spatulas and floats. Last layers (ca. 2 mm) forteh nominal diameter were made with Elastomer 90F (semi-liquid version). The liquidity of the material was not a problem with the rotating movement of the roll. There was obtained an equal and blister-free regeneration layer. The material was placed with a small overlay. After hardening the elastomer, the overlay of the application and the whole roll were finally ground. The choice of appropriate parameters of the grinding was very important.

ACHIEVED EFFECTS
There was regained a complete efficiency of the rubber roll. The user covered the cost of the material only (the work-force of Chester was free in the promotion). Costs of a possible co-operation with other companies and high expenses (galvanization of the whole roll with its earlier rubbing) were avoided as well. The troublesome transportation of the long roll (ca. 4m with the heads) was avoided. The over half-a-year-long utilization confirmed very good features of the utilization of elastomers made by Chester.
