Sugar Factory DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM There is a necessity to separate sugar beetroots from stones collected with them in the line of the preparation of the sugar beetroots before handling them. To this end, a stone catcher is used. The machine is not produced in series (although it is present in every sugar plant). A double bearing drum rotating with a small speed is a main element of the stone catcher. An incorrect assembly of the bearings caused the fact that a clearing occurred on the bearings' tops. The failure took place during the sugar campaign. The clearing was from 0.8 to 1.4mm in the diameter of 170mm. The clearing has an irregular character. It was decided to insert the bearings without centring them with the help of Chester Metal Ceramic F. DESCRIPTION OF THE REPAIR All tops of the roll, which bearings were to pass through, have been cleaned of the lubricant with the help of Chester Cleaner and acetone. Then the tops were polished with the help of an electric drill. After the machining, they were cleaned again with Chester Cleaner and dried with the help of an electric singeing machine. Chester Metal Ceramic F was placed on the surfaces of the tops and inside the rear bearing, while in the case of the clutch side: only on the surface of the tope. Tops prepared in such a way were moved onto the bearings and left for hardening. ACHIEVED EFFECTS No classic method could be practically applied here. Due to the dimensions of the machine, it is impossible to turn the tops, which eliminates the possibility of bushing or welding. The application will function correctly since the moment of the wear and tear of the bearings. |
